So the reading is not above his level to grasp the message contained. I'm reading this to my 3 1/2 year old. This book gives you a solid direction to follow when trying so hard to instill in your children what you know are good long-lasting values but can't always find the 'child-friendly' words or ways to deliver them. The phrases used in each chapter as key notes of the message are ones that any child can remember. This book is a much needed resource that enables me to talk about the various things I've tried to teach him but in a way that draws upon memorable characters, impressionable drawings and a complete thought-provoking message. Yes.3.not 13. He understands language and has from a young age. He has looked forward to reading each chapter AND talking about the questions at the end of each of them. We are able to draw upon the stories and examples of each character as we go through our day.which in turn redirects our choices and therefore our results.happiness - this book is a 'win-win'.
Great ideas to present to young children to develope thinking skills in everyday social interaction.
Every night they ask me to read it. It's a great book. I have three kids 6, 4 and 3 years old, I started reading/describing the characters and the whole place where each story happens. They learned every character description and recognize each place of 7 oaks immediatly and love to show me where the stories are happening. It's incredible how their little minds remember the habits already taught when they apply on their daily life. Excuse me for my " not so good" english. but spanish is my language.I really recommend it
If you are familiar with the 7 Habits type books, this one fits right in the family.if you are not familiar with them, this is an AWESOME book for great ideas in how to approach some of the challenges we parents have with kids. This is a book to read to children, and is laid out in a story format and at the end of each chapter there is a "parent's corner" which then presents discussion points for parents to have with kids and ideas how to take each subject and make improvements.I have recommended this to a number of my friends.Additionally, it is written simply enough that my 7 year old can read it to herself and has taken it to show and tell to share with her friends. She loves how the stories are written and she totally gets 'the lesson' inside each chapter. You will not be disappointed by this book.Cheers, MR
If Sean Covey's name is on the book, I want it. Another great piece. I am using it as a skill-building tool with third graders. Barbara King, School Counselor, Asheville, North Carolina
